Hello and welcome to the 120-Second Recruitment podcast I am joined by Jordan Betteridge. Jordan your first question is “how do you continue to learn in order to stay on top of things within your role?”

Jordan Betteridge:

That’s a big question thanks, Callum. Thanks for having me. Keeping abreast of current trends and also past trends is really important to me. Staying on top of you know the sort of I guess skill sets in the practice that I preach every day is about getting online and understanding you know things from different articles or different publications. Have got you to know current date information often I go online and type in you know SEO backlinking skills or something like that in Australia or tools. One of the things I see quite often is like this article was posted in 2016. its a really good and important thing is to filter through and make sure that I’m seeing things from like 2020 or even 2021. Also just chatting to people in my market.

Callum Hull:

That’s a great answer your second question is what is one common myth about the professional field that you wish to debunk?

Jordan Betteridge:

There are a lot of myths but the most common one probably that marketing isn’t rocket science. I like to tell everyone and just sort of help people feel better about their marketing ideas. Everyone’s got great ideas but it’s not rocket science. The hardest thing about marketing is actually applying a strategy to execute your marketing strategy. Loads of people I speak to every day have ideas you know buckets full of them. You know strategies they want to do cool things that they want to share insightful pieces of information and articles. It’s actually just executing that that makes it a lot more difficult for people. What people find out of doing that is you know marketing is about you know taking the guesswork out of what your business does. So once you start talking like you do every day with your customers you’re fine.
